If something feels wrong

Trust that feeling. You do not need to prove harm before reporting. Use the report button on any profile or message to flag a concern — reports are reviewed.

• If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first.

Before you meet someone in person

Moving a connection offline is exciting. Take it at your own pace and on your own terms.

• Consider a video or voice call first — it is a lower-stakes way to verify someone is who they say they are.
• Tell a trusted person where you are going, who you are meeting, and when to expect you back.
• Meet in a public place for the first few times.
• Keep your own transport — do not rely on someone you have just met to get home.
• Leave at any point if something feels off. You never owe anyone a reason.
• Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, or banking details to someone you only know online.

Protecting yourself from scams

Romance and friendship scams are common. Scammers may target people seeking friendship or dating. Watch for these warning signs:

• Moving very quickly — intense affection before you have really connected.
• Avoiding video calls or always having a reason they cannot meet.
• Stories that escalate urgency — a crisis, a hospital bill, a travel emergency — followed by a request for money.
• Asking you to continue conversation only on a different platform.
• Requesting gift cards, wire transfers, or cryptocurrency — these cannot be recovered.

If you suspect a scam, stop contact, report the profile, and do not send money even if pressured. Contact [email protected] and we will review it.
