Where to send requests

Send requests to [email protected]. To help us respond quickly, include:

• Agency name
• Officer or agent name
• Badge or identification number
• Official contact information (agency email address and phone number)
• The legal basis for the request (e.g. subpoena, court order, search warrant)
• The specific user or account the request concerns
• The specific information being requested

Legal process

unmaskd. generally requires valid legal process — such as a subpoena, court order, or search warrant, as appropriate to the information requested — before disclosing user information. The exception is an emergency involving imminent risk of death, serious physical harm, exploitation, or another immediate safety threat, where we may disclose information necessary to prevent that harm without formal legal process, at our discretion.

Emergency requests

If a request involves imminent danger to a person, mark it clearly as urgent and explain the nature of the emergency. Emergency requests are prioritized, but marking a request urgent does not itself establish that an emergency exists — we evaluate each request on its facts.

Preservation requests

We may review requests to preserve account records pending formal legal process. Reviewing or acting on a preservation request does not guarantee that the underlying information will ultimately be disclosed — disclosure still requires appropriate legal process (or the emergency exception above).
